Beauty's Challenge

The painting is inspired by a dream in which I was in a room twirling and dancing and saying, "This is my Beauty Shop!" I am soon frightened out of the house by a barking dog coming up from the basement. When I go outside I see snakes all over the ground. I fly up into the air and see hundreds of nests of snakes falling to the ground from the sky.
This dream took place during a time of great transformation of my beliefs and subsequently my life. The snake is a symbol of transformation and the air thoughts.

The Greater Woman Within

Inspired by a young woman's dream. The woman floats above a beautiful mountain scene at sunrise. She somehow knows as she rises above that the home below is hers and it is almost complete. The window in the house is circular with crossed beams. It's a mandala and a symbol of wholeness.

Silver tool

This work was inspired by a dream which I feel describes the creative process. In the dream I held a silver tool in my hand, like a protractor, and as I completed the circles new worlds would appear. My son saw me doing this amazing thing and he said, "Mom, that's cool! Can I use the tool?" He took the tool from my hand and left in his car.
The creative process always starts in the imagination and with the feminine side, then when it's ready to be made, the idea is given physical expression by the masculine side.
Inspiration descends the four planes of expression, the spiritual, the mental, the emotional and finally the physical; which are represented in the painting by the four planets, as four distinct symbols.

Fall into fear

This painting was inspired by a dream I had the night after 9/11. Even though the trade towers were not present in the nightmare, I felt they must provide the backdrop to this work, because the fear that I was feeling at this time was directly connected to the towers falling.
In the dream I was sucked out my bedroom window into a black abyss. In terror I fought the air as I fell endlessly, until I realized it was only a dream, and then I became lucid. At that moment I stopped falling and knowing somehow that I was in a sacred place I yelled out, "What is for me here?" Then, huge metal discs with alien writing started floating up around me.

Chart the growth

My painting, "Chart the Growth" is the retelling of a dream, when I asked one night before sleeping, "What is my soul's truest purpose?" The answer came to me in the dream that followed, whereby I found myself inside a tree, and I looked above me and saw the countless rings of the tree, then I heard a voice say, "Chart the Growth of the Tree."
I chose the Bristle Cone Pine to show the painful lessons of life and the way they have shaped me, throughout time and in all my incarnations.
The rings of the tree are represented in the petrified wood, and also in the lake. The voice is the orb above the lake.

Soul Tree

This painting expresses the yearning to touch the unknowable, and to feel at one with the universe. The universe and everything in it is one, and this whole is symbolized by the union of the opposites; of the masculine and feminine, the macrocosm and microcosm, the inner and outer universe, the infinite and the finite, soul and spirit.
The painting, "Soul Tree" was inspired by a dream I had, when one night I asked before sleeping, "What is my soul's truest purpose?" The answer came in the dream that followed, where I found myself inside a tree. I could see the countless rings of the tree above me, and then I heard a voice say, "Chart the Growth of the Tree."
